A component of each of the children & young peoples' services within The WEB Project is to provide Sexual Health Programmes, which focus on topics relevant to the individual needs of each young person.

The aim of this work is to:

• Provide access to comprehensive Sexual Health and Relationship programmes that are tailored to meet the specific needs of vulnerable or ‘at risk’ young people. The programme is delivered by a variety of methods including verbal, written and audio-visual aids.
  
• Increase understanding and awareness of the psychological and physical aspects of sexual behaviour
  
• Encourage young people to delay first sex until they are emotionally and physically ready
  
• Provide advice on safer sex and reducing the risks of unintended pregnancy and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), including HIV
  
• Provide advice and support to reduce the problems of risk taking behaviour, especially those related to alcohol and substance misuse
  
• Support young people make informed choices about their own and their partner’s sexual health and wellbeing
  
• Make sure that young people understand the range of advice, information and services available locally and know how to access them and to refer where appropriate
  
• Support other professionals e.g. teachers, social workers to provide effective, evidence-based SRE, advice and support to the young people in their care
  
• Involve parents and carers in the development of programmes.
