CAIRScotland has developed a range of specialist community based intensive services for young people aged 12 - 25 with significant problems relating to their drug use and/or drinking.

We work with young people who are living at home, are accommodated in the community or in residential care, in residential schools and those within secure accommodation, liaising closely with social work, health, education and voluntary organisations as required within each unique case, either as a part of a multi-agency care plan or taking the role of case holder as required.

What do we mean by specialist and intensive?

“ Specialist” – Our services work within a holistic model, recognising the risk and resilience factors within all the main domains of each young person's life. Our staff have specific knowledge, skills and experience in risk assessing the impact of drug use and drinking and identifying the most appropriate interventions to address the concerns and expectations identified.

“Intensive” – services operate over seven days per week, including evenings and weekends. The level of contact and programme activity is agreed during the assessment and Plan for Change programme development. Workers identify with their manager the required allocation of hours to each young person. This can increase at critical or crisis points.
